Traditional Weaving
Our flagship programme. Clients work on traditional floor looms to create beautiful woven textiles, learning to set up, thread, and weave patterns from simple tabby weave through to more complex structures. Weaving builds focus, rhythm, and a deep sense of pride in the finished cloth.
Knitting
From casting on to casting off, our knitting sessions welcome all levels. Clients create scarves, beanies, dishcloths, and more, learning to read simple patterns and work with a range of yarn weights and needle sizes. A wonderfully calming and sociable craft.
Crocheting
Using a single hook and yarn, clients learn the fundamental stitches of crochet and go on to create granny squares, amigurumi toys, bags, and decorative items. Crochet is versatile, portable, and endlessly creative — a firm favourite in the studio.
Embroidery
Hand embroidery introduces clients to a rich world of decorative stitching — running stitch, satin stitch, French knots, and more. Working on fabric hoops, clients create floral motifs, personalised pieces, and decorative wall art to display or gift.
Patchwork & Quilting
Clients cut, arrange, and stitch fabric patches into colourful patterns, building towards finished quilts and wall hangings. Patchwork is a wonderful way to explore colour and geometry, and the collaborative nature of quilting makes it a real community activity.
Fabric Crafts & Bowl Making
Using fabric strips, rope, and coiling techniques, clients create sturdy and beautiful fabric bowls. This programme also covers a variety of other fabric-based crafts, giving clients the chance to experiment with texture, colour, and form in a hands-on way.
Machine Sewing
Clients learn to use domestic sewing machines safely and confidently, working on projects ranging from simple tote bags and cushion covers to more complex garments and home accessories. Machine sewing opens up a world of practical, useful making.
Hand-Stitching
A relaxing and accessible craft, hand-stitching introduces clients to needle and thread work beyond embroidery — including simple mending, appliqué, felt work, and the construction of small sewn items. It builds fine motor skills and patience in equal measure.
Diamond Dot Art
A satisfying and meditative craft, Diamond Dot Art (also known as diamond painting) involves placing tiny resin gems onto a numbered canvas to create sparkling, mosaic-like pictures. It's ideal for those who enjoy detailed, methodical work and produces stunning results.
Paper Crafts
From card making and origami to decoupage and scrapbooking, our paper crafts sessions explore the huge range of creative possibilities in paper. Great for seasonal projects, gifts, and celebrations — clients often contribute paper creations to our holiday programme.
Canvas Painting
Clients explore colour mixing, brushwork, and composition on canvas, following guided projects or expressing their own ideas. Sessions cover a range of styles from bold abstract pieces to nature-inspired artwork — all are welcomed and celebrated at our market stalls.
Felting
Using wool roving and either wet or needle-felting techniques, clients sculpt and create everything from flat decorative pieces to three-dimensional objects. Felting is wonderfully tactile and expressive, making it especially popular with those who enjoy working with natural fibres.
Toy-Making
Clients sew, stuff, and embellish handmade soft toys, using a range of fabrics and materials. From simple teddy bears to unique character creations, toy-making is a joyful programme that combines sewing skills with imagination — and the results often find loving new homes.
Mosaic Art
Working with tiles, glass pieces, and grout, clients create colourful mosaic artworks on boards, pots, and frames. Mosaic is bold, tactile, and deeply satisfying — each piece is unique, and clients often produce work of gallery-worthy quality that is proudly displayed in the community.
Always Growing, Always Welcoming
We are continually looking to introduce new programmes and activities based on the interests and aspirations of our clients. If there's a craft you'd love to try that you don't see listed here, please let us know — your ideas shape what we offer.
Everything created in our studio belongs to the person who made it. Participants are warmly encouraged to take their creations home to treasure, share with family and friends, or donate to our market stalls to help support the Trust. Your work, your choice — always.
